I’m very proud to announce that all yearbooks have officially been submitted!

I want to extend a BIG congratulations to all of our schools for doing a spectacular job this year. These yearbooks are the best ones we’ve seen yet!

So many creative ideas, concepts and themes were being utilized on all of your pages this year. Take a look at some great examples below:

Great Grad pages from Blessed Sarcrament in Alexandria, VA

Cool collage pages from Kingsway Elementary in Port Charlotte, FL

Perfect Pals pages from Lely Elementary School in Naples, FL

Our yearbook deadline is fastly approaching! So what do you do after you’ve finished the design processes?

Well first you may want to print out a hard copy of your EZBook yearbook for others, such as the Principal to see and approve. The best way to do this is to first create a PDF:

When in EZBook go to the File menu and choose Print.  Once there, choose “EZBook PDF Printer” from the drop down menu. Choose how many pages you want in the PDF (or leave it set to “all”) and then click Print. This will then ask you to save a PDF of your book, which you can open outside of EZBook on any computer with Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.

  • Please note this does NOT in any way lock or export your book. The purpose of this is to create a separate file outside of the program to view or print from.

If you have gotten your book approved by the school Administrators and you are ready to submit your EZBook Online or Desktop Yearbook just click the “How To” tab at www.SplendidYearbooks.com for some great tips on exporting.

Feel free to contact me at any time with questions!

We’re almost down to the home stretch and now is the time to not only put your images on the pages, but to add some creative elements to them as well. Take a look below at some great examples of collage pages from our schools last year:

Cool Spring Elementary

Make it Structured. Cool Spring Elementary took a sophisticated approve with their collage pages (above). They created a grid of square images to focus more closely on each student.

Our Lady Star of the Sea

Matthew Maury Elementary

Make it Specific! Create a collage page dedicated just to teacher appreciation like Matthew Maury Elementary, Or make captions on each image to highlight some of your smaller events like Our Lady Star of the Sea School (above).

Haycock Elementary

Sunrise Valley Elementary

Make it Fun! Haycock ES and Sunrise Valley ES had some creative ideas in mind when making their grades’ collage pages. We love their use of color and layering elements here.

Vienna Elementary

Make it Original! Create a collage page of the other student artwork covers that didn’t make it onto the cover, or even borrow and scan some stand-out pieces from the art teacher to highlight your school’s talented kids like Vienna Elementary!

With our new Donate a Yearbook program parents or members of your community can now donate a yearbook to students and families who may not otherwise be able to purchase one.

Yearbooks play an important role in helping students feel connected to the school and their community. Not only are they a nice memento of the school year, but also contribute to a student’s well being by demonstrating that they are part of something important.

Splendid will now provide your school with a Donate a Yearbook option on your Yearbook Order Envelopes. Parents or members of your community will be able to donate to a specific student or family, or they can “Let the school decide”.

For more details about our Donate a Yearbook program, visit SplendidYearbooks.com under the “How To” tab, or CLICK HERE to be taken directly to the Donate a Yearbook webpage.

Here are some more great ideas for your Panel Pages from our school’s last year.

Steuart Weller Elementary

Check out Steuart Weller Elementary’s idea for people not pictured. If someone was absent on picture day or they are a new student or faculty member, you can change their image to be anything you want! Here they used an image of their mascot. Great idea!

  •  Helpful Hint: To achieve this look (or to change any picture in the database) just go to your Database editor, to anyone’s information and press the button “Change Picture”. This is where you can upload any image from your computer and it will flow right with the class for this person’s image (as you can see above).

Springwoods Elementary

Here is another example of  a unique panel page from Springwoods Elementary. Having the teacher on their own row sets them apart from the rest of the class. They have also done a great job of keeping it interesting but simple by adding candid images in small simple circles across the top.

Notice anything different? Yes! We have updated SplendidYearbooks.com to better serve you and all your yearbook needs! Along with the improved look,  it’s now even easier for you to submit all of your forms directly through our website, including Requesting Yearbook Order Envelopes and Submitting your Stock Cover!

We’ve also added some great new resources. For example, under the “Ideas” tab you can now find a new page called Promoting Your Yearbook. This page has tons a great ideas for promoting and selling your yearbooks all year long.

Another great resource we have added is our new page called, Candid Photography Tips under the “Tech Support” tab. Here you can read our expert photography advice on how to capture your school’s facilities, people and events to achieve the best quality images for your yearbook. Learn about Color Balance settings on your camera, Composition Tips and more!

Panel Pages are your “main attraction” when it comes to your yearbook. Sometimes we tend to get into a routine and they all start looking the same year after year. Check out these great Panel Page ideas to help you spruce up your pages!

West Springfield Elementary had a great idea for the teacher image on their panel page. Instead of flowing their formal teacher picture with the class, they used a candid image instead.

Did you know that in the “Flow Wizard” on the last screen where you see the thumbnail view, you can click the thumbnails and rearrange them in any way you want! This is how Sycolin Creek Elementary came up with this unique Panel Page idea.

Whether their moving on to 3rd Grade or 9th Grade, it’s always nice to celebrate your grads.

St. Andrew Catholic School in Fort Myers, FL has a terrific tradition for their 8th grade graduates. They display the 8th grade’s kindergarten school portraits with their current Cap-and-Gown pictures giving the page a nostalgic touch for the students, parents and teachers too!

Take a look at Lake Anne Elementary School in Reston, VA’s farewell to their 6th Graders (above). They’ve displayed baby pictures from all their 6th graders and the answers up-side-down on the next page. Not only do the baby pictures celebrate their grads moving on to middle school, but it also creates a fun game for everyone to play!

We love this creative 6th Grade page from West Springfield Elementary in Springfield, VA! Instead of the Grads’ “Favorite Hobbies” or “Class Quotes”, West Springfield was able to give the students a chance to participate by asking them to come up with one word that their “Famous For” or describes them best. Take a minute to read the words… one of my favorites is “Jokeful” :)
